School sucks. I know that's a bold statement, but it wouldn't be fair if I only criticized the system without offering solutions. In this post, I will provide my solution for the current system. In elementary school, students are forced to learn a lot of technical skills that they may not even use in the future. Instead of focusing on technical skills, teaching them about soft skills and the right mindset would be better. At that age, the most important thing is to provide them with the right mindset and soft skills. Unfortunately, the education system doesn't do that and only focuses on technical skills. This is why many kids nowadays have weak mental games. Moving on to junior and senior high school, assuming that students have already been provided with the right mindset in elementary school, they should have a good foundation of soft skills by then. Therefore, it's time to teach them technical skills. However, instead of going in-depth on every topic, we should expose them to many topics but just touch the surface. This way, they get exposed to different fields and can choose which one to pursue as a career. The current education system's biggest mistake is that it doesn't expose students to many fields and teaches beyond the surface. For example, who needs to learn about relativity in physics or radioactivity in chemistry if you want to become a data scientist? My solution is to expose students to many fields, but just touch the surface and let them choose which one is suitable for them. Finally, let's talk about college. With the current system, colleges teach us a lot of things that we may not even use. In my opinion, college should be narrower. For example, the Computer Science field is too broad. We need to learn a lot of things that we may not even use. For instance, I'm a software engineer, but I never use calculus in my job. My solution is to break computer science into more fields, like software engineering, data science, data analysis, AI engineering, etc. This way, we can focus on the right topic to learn in-depth because it's more effective to learn one topic at a time rather than trying to master many things simultaneously.
